The Lady Bisons traveled to Tapestry yesterday. The result was a 66-28 loss. Tapestry was celebrating Senior Night and recognized their Seniors as well as the SMSD Seniors. Tapestry came out shooting and did not miss. The Lady Bisons couldn’t stop them. Tapestry was well balanced and made plays when they needed to. The Lady Bisons couldn’t keep up with their speed and fatigue became an issue. Our bench did its best but in the end, Tapestry was too much. Zarielle Ormsby finished with 19 points and 9 rebounds.
Our next game is Friday at 6pm here against Virginia School for the Deaf. We host the ESDAA Girls DII Tournament this weekend. Stop out and support the Lady Bisons!!

The Lady Bisons basketball team won this afternoon, 34-13 over West Seneca Christian. The first quarter was tight, and we could not find the hoop. We had many opportunities but were unsuccessful. West Seneca was able to score a few times and keep it close after 8 minutes. The Lady Bisons found their rhythm at the start of the second quarter and managed to maintain that the rest of the game. Zarielle Ormsby had 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kearah Kelly had a career high 12 points and 10 steals. Yaindhi Garcia Agustin and EmilyLynn Spillman each had 2 points. The younger lady Bisons all saw very valuable playing time too.

The Lady Bisons hosted Gilead JV this afternoon. After a week off due to illness, we struggled with fatigue, mistakes , inconsistent effort, and the inability to put the ball in the basket. The result was a 70-18 loss. Zarielle Ormsby had 16 points and 9 rebounds. Elliana Sanders had 2 points. Our next game is on February 6th against West Seneca Christian.

The Lady Bisons took on West Seneca Christian this afternoon. At the final buzzer, the Bisons were victorious 32-10. Every player saw playing time. The younger girls saw significant action and had an opportunity to develop their skills and confidence. All the Lady Bisons recorded points in the score book! Zarielle Ormsby had 14 points. Briona Zuppa finished with 6 points. Kearah Kelly connected for 4 points. Isabella Centinello-Perez, JulieRae Drabant, Elliana Sanders and EmilyLynn Spilman each had 2 points.

The Lady Bisons hosted New Life JV today and lost 50-22. New Life proved to be too much for us again. The Lady Bisons struggled to find the hoop. When the ball doesn’t go in, it makes for a long game. We had many opportunities but could not get them to go in for us. The Lady Bisons continue to work hard, support one another and give their best effort. Zarielle Ormsby finished with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Kearah Kelly had 3 points.

In our second game in two days, we managed to pull together and play as a team. Despite a 47-32 loss to Tapestry, we showed significant improvement. The Lady Bisons worked as a group, remained positive, improved our efforts, and made better decisions. This was a great game to watch and coach! Zarielle Ormsby had 14 rebounds and 24 points. Isabella Centinello-Perez and Kearah Kelly finished with 3 points and Elliana Sanders had 2 points. Kearah Kelly and Briona Zuppa both played great defense up top.

The Lady Bisons took on New Life Christian JV today and lost 47-20. This was our first game since Christmas vacation. It was evident we had not run in a while and we showed fatigue and frustration. The second half, we improved and managed to make less mistakes and take better shots. Zarielle Ormsby led the Lady Bisons with 12 points.

The Lady Bisons knocked off Rochester in The I-90 Classic hosted by the Wildcats yesterday by a score of 39-25. Zarielle Ormsby led all scorers with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Kearah Kelly had 6 points and 6 steals. EmilyLynn Spillman chipped in 5 points and Briona Zuppa had 2 points. Rookie Yaindhi Garcia Agustin, came up from the Baby Bisons for the game and scored 4 points. The Lady Bisons passed the ball well as a unit. They had good vision on the floor and made great decisions. Isabella Centinello-Perez, Elliana Sanders and JulieRae Drabant all played valuable roles in the game and provided needed rest and time to recharge our bodies! Great win by the Lady Bisons!!

The Lady Bisons opened the 2022-23 season with a loss to Gilead JV….63-14. We had many opportunities but were not able to take advantage of them. Gilead has depth and height and proved to be too much for us. Regardless of the score, The Lady Bisons never gave up and worked hard for 32 minutes. Zarielle Ormsby led the Lady Bisons with 8 points and EmilyLynn Spillman chipped in 6 points. Kearah Kelly played well defensively. Elliana Sanders, JulieRae Drabant, Briona Zuppa and Isabella Centinello-Perez all worked hard on the court. There is always room for improvement!!!
