    Game Recaps 2019

ESDAA Tournament at Western Pennsylvannis School for the Deaf

    Friday November 1st

We started off the round robin tournament against our rival, Rochester. The girls had an exciting first game and managed to pull off 18 points against RSD, our best match yet against them. The second set was not as lucky due to some bad lighting for our girls. We fell against RSD in two sets: 18-25, 0-25.

Second game was against Ohio School for the Deaf. In both sets we started off trailing but that didn’t stop the Lady Bisons. Elise Watson had one of her best serving games this season and helped to lead the girls to their first tournament win. The girls beat OSD in two sets 25-19 and 26-24.

The girls finished out the night playing Lexington. This was a tough match for the girls as we were seeded 4th and they were 5th. This was really a serving game and due to a few questionable calls by the refs, the girls couldn’t seem to hold themselves together to squeak out another win. We fell to Lexington in two sets, 16-25 and 21-25.

We play one more game tomorrow against Marie Phillips to end the round robin tournament. More details will follow once our bracket play begins in the afternoon.

    Saturday, November 2nd

The Lady Bisons took on Marie Phillips in the last round of round robin play. The girls were a little sluggish from the start and had a hard time finding a groove to take on the Lady Ghosts. There were some quick volleys and a few great saves made by Cami Cole but the girls ended up falling in two sets 12-25 and 14-25. The girls go into bracket play in the silver bracket against American School for the Deaf at 2:30 pm today.

At 2:30 pm we took in ASD in a 1 set single elimination start to bracket play. The girls came in strong with a plan and the determination that their tournament wasn’t over yet. Emma Foster made some great digs and saves at the net but the girls in general meshed really well and pulled off a 25-18 victory. The girls will take on OSD again tomorrow at 9:30am to round out their tournament.

     Sunday, November 3rd

After an early skills competition, the girls took on OSD for one final set and the silver bracket title. We came in knowing a little about the team as we had played them twice the day before but our girls stayed cool under pressure and came out on top with a 25-19 score. The girls really played well together this whole weekend and all their teamwork paid off as they are now the silver bracket champs. If you see the ladies this week congratulate them on a job well done.

    Thank you,

    Coach Chuba & Coach Daley

The Lady Bisons took on the Rochester Wildcats yesterday in Rochester. After a slow start the first set, the girls were feeling quite defeated but they came back and were able to shake off a little of their intimidation and managed some great volleys against the opposing team in the second and third sets. Unfortunately, they could not seem to fight back enough to pull off an win and fell to Rochester in three straight sets. It was a low serving game for us with Julia Bronneberg managing 9 service points and Aleyshka Rivera managing 8 for the highs. The girls’ net game was strong with three of them: Cameron Cole, Elise Watson, and Emma Foster each earning 3 attacks and 1 kill each throughout the game. Brionna Zuppa and Kearah Kelly kept their cool long enough to pull of some great saves and are really showing their growth on the team. Overall, it was a much better game than our first encounter with Rochester and we will get one more chance at them this weekend for the ESDAA tournament in Pittsburg. Wish the girls luck for this weekend and the end of their season. They have really grown as a team and we could not be happier with their progress.

The Lady Bisons took on the Central Baptist Lions for their last home game of the season. The girls came out strong, wanting to prove that they could pull off a win this season, and that’s exactly what they did. Julia Bronneberg had an amazing 20 service points and 6 aces as well as 6 attacks and 2 kills. This was by far one of Julia’s best games and she has really started to enjoy playing at the net. Cami Cole and Elise Watson both shed some tears at their last volleyball home game as seniors, but they held it together enough for Elise to have 11 service point and 3 attacks and Cami to pull off 7 points with 2 attacks. Aleyshka River continues to show her improved skills by setting some great passes on the court and Emma Foster and Kearah Kelly had some great back row digs. The lady Bisons will travel to Rochester next week for their final game of the season before the ESDAA tournament. Please congratulate all the girls on a game well played.

The Lady Bisons faced off yesterday in their closest game yet against the Global Gators. The girls showed how much they’ve grown this season with some great volleys and hustle throughout the game. Cami Cole lead the team in scoring with 15 service points and 5 aces. She was followed closely by Julia Bronneberg with 12 points and 3 aces and Aleyshka Rivera with 12 points. Julia also had a great game at the net with 6 attacks and her first kill of the season. Emma Foster, Elise Watson and Brionna Zuppa all contributed amazingly on the floor and the girls refused to give up right until the very end. Unfortunately, they just missed pulling off a win and will strive for their second of the season this Thursday Against Central Baptist in their last home game of the season. We hope to see you come out to support us one last time.

The Lady Bisons took on the Central Baptist Lion yesterday in a fairly close game. The Bisons started off strong in each set, quickly taking the lead but they couldn’t seem to hold it together long enough to scrape out a win.  Julia Bronneberg had an impressive 16 serve attempts with 6 aces. Emma Foster had 13 serve attempts with 4 aces. Cameron Cole had an impressive 5 attacks at the net with 2 kills. Elise Watson, Brionna Zuppa, and Aleyshka Rivera rounded out the team, helping out across the floor. The girls showed great cooperation and growth again today and we can’t wait to see what they can do in their last three games of the season. The girls will have two home games next week, Tuesday and Thursday. Please try and stop out to see our girls in action.

The Lady Bisons took their first win yesterday after a forfeit from Buffalo Academy of science. After the no show from the other team, the girls had a chance to scrimmage against the “All Star” staff team. There were some heated volleys back and forth and the girls struggled against the height of Tim Kelly. Emma Foster had a few quick saves and the girls worked well together against the All Stars. Thank you to Tim Kelly, Jason Meyers, Katelyn Koester, Danielle Walczak, and Joann Watson for scrimmaging with us.

The Lady Bisons took on the Global Charter Gators yesterday afternoon in a late game. After a disappointing game the day before, the girls had a little bit more to prove and set out to do just that. Julia Bronneberg came out on top in all three sets with an impressive 16 point, 9 aces, and 4 attacks at the net. Emma Foster and Kearah Kelly made some impressive saves and showed off their improved ball handling skills throughout the whole game and racked up another 3 and 2 aces respectively. Aleyshka Rivera continues to come out of her shell adding 6 points and 2 aces and some great assistance in the front. Cami Cole, Brionna Zuppa and Elise Watson chipped in on the floor and helped to achieve our first set win of the season. We lost in 2 out of 3 sets but definitely showed that we are here to play. Our next two games will be away games next week. Please wish the girls luck as we take our season on the road.

The Lady Bisons took on the Rochester Wildcats yesterday in their third game of the season. The girls struggled against Rochester’s strong servers and quick plays and fell in three straight sets. Julia Bronneberg had two aces while Aleyshka Rivera had one at the serving line. Cami Cole had two strong attacks and Elise Watson and Aleyshka Rivera each chipped in one a piece. Hopefully the girls will bring the fire back into their next game which happens today at 4:30 in an attempt to pull of their first win of the season.

The lady Bisons had their second game of the season against Tapestry Charter yesterday and it was a tight match between the two teams. The girls gave everything they had but came up just short in three straight sets. Julia “The sniper” Bronneberg had an impressive 10 points and 4 aces at the service line and Aleyshka Rivera and Brionna Zuppa both stepped up with an impressive 8 and 7 points respectively. Our net game was strong yesterday with Cami Cole, Elsie Watson, and Kearah Kelly all getting one attack and one kill each. The girls played on their toes and had some great volleys with Tapestry and even though we fought back for every point we were just shy in all three sets.

Our next game will be next week Tuesday at 3:30 against RSD. Please try to come out and show your support for the girls. You can also show your support by coming to our CAR WASH on Tuesday the 24th from 3-6pm.

    Hope to see you there,

Yesterday the Lady Bisons had their first game of the season against New Life Christian school from Olean. After a late start, the girls were ready to see how they would do taking on an opponent this early in the year. The girls were excited and eager to work together for the entire match. They fought for the whole game but came up short in three straight sets against New Life. Cami Cole and Julia Bronneberg, while taking different approaches to serving, dominated at the serving line. Julia finished with 8 points and 2 aces for the game while Cami had 9 points and 5 aces for the game. Elise Watson also had 1 ace and racked up the moist assists of the game. Aleyshka Rivera helped out close to the net while Brionna Zuppa and Kearah Kelly helped in the back court.

The girls fought hard even though they did not win, and we can’t wait to see what they can do later in the season.  Please think about coming to our next game, this Thursday at SMSD at 4pm.
