SABAH Skate-A-Thon
 

     
 

 

On Wednesday February 13th  Tommy Neinhaus, an SMSD elementary student, participated in the 4th
annual SABAH Rocks the Blue and Gold Skate-a-thon at the First Niagara Center. 
Tommy raised $255 to benefit SABAH Inc. and was able to skate on the ice of FNC. 
Tommy met three Buffalo Sabres (Cody Hodgson, Nathan Gerbe and Marcus Foligino) and more importantly Sabretooth. 
Tommy was in awe of his new furry friend.  Tommy skates weekly with Recreation Therapist, Steve Bauman. 
His brother, Jack also joined him for the Skate-A-Thon!

Girl Scout PJ Round Up!
 

    
 

     

This past week, a few of our Girl Scouts participated in a Pajama Round Up party with other scouts in the Cheektowaga area.  The purpose of this party was to collect new pajamas and books for the needy.  Our girls had a lot of fun dancing, eating pizza and socializing all for a good cause.  

 

 

Community Service
 

        

Recently, our Girls Scouts and Leah Bartnik (sister of student Ed Bartnik) completed the SMSD Girl Scout Garden.  It’s located behind the New Gym near the Tot Play ground.  Leah Bartnik is working towards the Gold Award (highest award given in Girl Scouts) and this was her service project.  Our scouts cleared the old flower bed, planted bulbs and decorated rocks for the garden.  Next spring it should be a colorful addition to our campus!!
